Survey Site Review: Spider Metrix

According to Spider Metrix's website your opinion makes you money. On my first day, I can tell, I did make some money. But before any of that, here is an overview of Spider Metrix.

Countries Supported: Worldwide
Age limit: 14 or older
Points? Yes (worth around Australian $ 0.17 each)
Payout: at least 300 points
Claiming through: Paypal, Amazon Vouchers (.com/.co.uk), and donations to WorldVision
Other info:
  • Sometimes, there are available games to participate in where you could win additional points.
  • There are bonus points just for completing the profile.
  • As you step-up a SpiderSpecie (based on your point balance), you earn more points for every 20+ minute survey. Which means that the higher balance you have on your account, the more points you earn in the long surveys you complete.
My Spider Metrix Experience

I can say that I earned the most out of Spider Metrix as of the moment because of their generosity in giving points as you complete your profile. They give you a chance of getting up to 15 points just for that. Other than the profilers, they had a lot of one-question surveys called quickies. In less than thirty minutes, I had 30 points or almost P 200 based on the current exchange rate. I can't wait to get to 300 points for my first cash out. In the mean time, I'll just keep a watch on my email to wait for another surveys invite.

3 days in and more than Php 300 earned!

So, it's my third day answering surveys. And after answering two full surveys that took me around 20 minutes each, and a number of surveys that took me around 5 seconds (yes, five seconds!) to 5 minutes, I have earned a total of P 357 (based on the current exchange rate). That's just around P 100 short of the minimum wage per day. And all I did was spend an hour or so on the internet clicking some buttons. So how did I do it?

The key is to join as many survey sites as you can. Currently, I have joined 10 sites. Out of these 10 sites, I have received payments from 6 of them, ranging from a few cents to as much as P 75 per transaction. Read on to find out what experiences I've had in them in my other blog posts (links would be found at the bottom of this post when they are published).

Just a few reminders/tips:
  1. Earnings would vary per person. You may or may not be qualified for each of their available surveys. It all depends on your profile. For example, on the survey site Apini, I still have not earned a buck until today. However, my sister earned more than $2 on her second day after answering a 20 minute survey.
  2. You may have to spend some time answering profilers without receiving anything. Some survey sites would ask you to answer profilers (questionnaires regarding your occupation, education, lifestyle, etc.) to properly match you with their clients. This may take a few minutes to around half an hour depending on the site. Although, there are sites like Spidermetrix which awards you a few points (worth a few cents) for their profilers. That doesn't mean though that you are not obliged to answer all of them to receive surveys. However, you would have a greater chance of receiving surveys if your profile is complete.
  3. Surveys do not come instantly. You may receive a survey the minute you join. But there are also instances when you would have to wait a few hours, maybe a few days before you get a chance to answer a survey and earn.
  4. Answering surveys cannot replace working. You may earn a few hundreds, thousands even, out of answering surveys. But this doesn't mean that you could quit your day-job. Answering surveys will not be able to support you and your family because it isn't that stable. You may earn P 500 today, and not receive a dime for a week. That said, joining survey sites gives you a chance to earn extra on your free time.
  5. Check your email regularly. Survey sites send their notifications to your email. To be able to maximize the surveys sent to you, be sure that you check it at least once a day. Also, I suggest that you create an email account just for survey sites and Paypal account. Or you can utilize the tabs (available in Gmail) if you would like to maintain just one account. This is to easily identify which email is a survey notification.
  6. Take note of your passwords. It has been repeatedly suggested by netiquette guidelines that you change your passwords regularly and to avoid using a single password for all of your accounts. So joining numerous survey sites with different passwords could make remembering them a chore. I suggest that you take note of all of these and keep it in a secure place (like a safe/locked journal if you have one, or a very secret folder in your computer/laptop). Also, to make it easier for you to create different passwords, have a go to password that you can change depending on the account. For example: Iam_mE17facebook for Facebook; Iam_mE17Gmail for Gmail, and Iam_mE17yAhoo! for Yahoo.
  7. Do not take things too seriously. If you do not get any survey invitation in a day, or within a few days, don't get frustrated. There is still more to come! Maybe today isn't that day, but tomorrow is a new day.

About This Blog

I created this blog to help Filipinos like me find survey sites that accept people living in the Philippines. But that doesn't mean the survey sites published in this blog are for Filipinos only. Most of them accept membership worldwide.

So, to begin with, I would like to tell you something about my first encounter with survey sites. I remember a few years ago when I was in first year college, a professor of mine told us that we can earn at home through answering surveys online. She said that marketers and researchers pay people a few pennies to a few bucks for spending some time answering their surveys.

When I did my research, I didn't push through 'cause I needed a Paypal account for most of them to be able to send their payments to me. And I wasn't willing to disclose any bank information or our full address. However, to be able to have a Paypal account, I had to be eighteen or older. I was just about to turn sixteen that time, so I just made a note about it on my desktop. Years after, here I am, a few days into my journey answering surveys.

I hope you find my posts and experiences a helpful tool for you to earn a few pesos answering some surveys. Have a nice day!
